About Loky and University Affiliation
Loky is an independent student companion platform designed for the campus community of the University of Hyderabad (UoH), India. Loky is not an official product of, sponsored by, or affiliated with the University of Hyderabad administration. All campus information and features are provided for educational and community convenience.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, registering, accessing, or using Loky, you enter into a legally binding agreement and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the application.
2. Eligibility & University Community Verification
The platform is intended exclusively for current students, researchers, faculty, and alumni of the University of Hyderabad campus. Users must be at least 17 years old. Certain features (such as publishing campus marketplace listings or syncing study notes) require verification via institutional Google email (@uohyd.ac.in).
3. Campus Marketplace & Intermediary Safe Harbor (Section 79 IT Act 2000)
Loky provides a student peer-to-peer exchange venue to help campus residents sell or transfer second-hand books, study materials, appliances, cycles, and student gear:
- Intermediary Status: Under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Loky acts solely as a neutral intermediary providing a communication venue. Loky does not initiate transactions, select recipients, or modify listed content.
- Zero Financial Involvement: Loky is not a payment gateway, retailer, or escrow agent. No commissions, transaction fees, or payment processing occur inside the App. All payments (cash, UPI) occur directly between students peer-to-peer outside the platform.
- Inspection & Caveat Emptor: All items are offered on an "as-is" basis. Buyers must inspect items in person on campus before paying. Loky disclaims all warranties regarding the quality, title, safety, or legality of any item.
Strictly Prohibited Marketplace Items
Posting, requesting, or selling any of the following items will result in immediate listing deletion and permanent account ban:
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, or illegal substances.
- Prescription drugs, medications, or hazardous chemicals.
- Weapons, blades, fireworks, or dangerous items.
- Stolen property or goods without lawful ownership.
- Leaked university examination question papers, confidential academic keys, or cheating materials.
- Copyright-infringing textbooks, counterfeit software, or pirated media.
4. Campus Map & Navigation Disclaimer
Campus maps, building outlines, and walking navigation routes are spatial estimates intended purely as navigational aids. Users are responsible for their personal safety, staying on designated walkways, and observing campus traffic and security rules.
5. User Data & Cloud Synchronization
For authenticated students, course subjects, attendance records (classes attended, missed, and total), and personal timetables are synchronized to our cloud database to provide reliable cross-device backup and restoration.
- Client-Side AES-256 Encryption: All attendance logs, timetables, and personal study notes are encrypted client-side using industry-standard AES-256 encryption prior to cloud transmission. The server stores only encrypted payloads.
- Academic Confidentiality: Attendance tracking is strictly personal to you. Your attendance records are never shared with university administration, professors, or faculty.
- Guest Mode: In Guest Mode, all attendance, timetable, and study data are stored strictly on your local device and are never transmitted to our servers.
- Marketplace & Account Data: Handled in strict compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
6. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability
The platform is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind. The developer shall not be liable for any missed buses, schedule changes, peer-to-peer transaction disputes, or indirect losses arising from platform usage.
7. Grievance Redressal (IT Rules 2021 & DPDP Act 2023)
In accordance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules, 2021, grievances regarding marketplace listings or privacy concerns may be reported directly to our designated officer:
